UWE Bristol nursing apprenticeships are innovative and transformational, equipping apprentices with the skills, knowledge and behaviour for a fulfilling career in healthcare.
“My name’s James Salmons. I’m the Associate Director of Apprenticeships within the School of Health and Social Wellbeing here at UWE Bristol.
Degree apprenticeships offer a really good way for apprentices to be able to learn and study at the same time, in a way that’s going to equip them with the skills, knowledge and behaviours they need for a really fulfilling career in healthcare, that’s going to allow them to support and transform the lives of the patients and service users that they may be working with.
We also know that lots of our apprenticeship programs are really innovative and sort of transformational. So, one of the other achievements that we’ve noticed from our apprenticeship programs particularly is around what that progression and what our apprentices go on and do. We have noted that a number of those apprentices have actually completed that apprenticeship and then gone on to further study to undertake their nurse degree training.”
International Nurses Day coincides with UWE Bristol’s latest nursing apprenticeship intakes. Last week we welcomed our newest cohort of Trainee Nursing Associates, with apprentices joining us from a variety of healthcare settings from across the region. Next week we are excited to start our newest intake of Registered Nurse Degree Apprentices, with over 95% of this cohort progressing after initially completing the Nursing Associate apprenticeship. This is a true testament to the apprenticeship pathways that are available within nursing and how this is helping to build the workforce for the future.
