Green Skills for Jobs and Entrepreneurship is an innovative programme designed to support young people in the West of England area from Black, Asian and minoritised backgrounds into the emerging green sector. Following eight days paid -in person training, learners will move onto either a fully funded internship or receive support with launching their own sustainable business. Each Green Skills learner will receive 1:1 coaching, mentoring and careers advice tailored to their personal and professional development goals.
Over 50,000 new jobs are set to be created to support the net zero targets for businesses in Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Bath and Northeast Somerset. Recognising that the sustainability sector is the second least diverse in the UK, the programme aims to support an inclusive transition to a green economy by bridging structural divides and addressing the underrepresentation of people from minoritised backgrounds in environmental careers.
The Green Skills Programme will take place over four weeks on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Tuesday 23 May to Wednesday 14 June 2023.
