Open Day: 9th October 2018, NHS Blood & Transplant, Filton
Celebrating and Inspiring Women’s STEM Careers
Ada Lovelace Day is an annual international celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). It aims to increase the profile of women in STEM and, in doing so, create new role models who will encourage more girls into STEM careers and support women already working in STEM.
NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) are holding a free open day at their Filton site. They are inviting female students to go and see the careers available to them within the organisation, and learn something about the amazing careers and professional achievements of the women who work there.
They are offering:
- Opportunities to visit Blood and Tissue Centres at NHSBT
- Demonstrations of the types of STEM careers within NHSBT, for example Research, Lab Analysis, Medical, ICT, Stats, Behavioural Science
- Talks by high achieving women
Two sessions will be held on 9th October; the first at 9:30-12:00 and then repeated at 13:00-15:30.
UWE Bristol are providing free minibuses for their female students to attend. If you would like to book a place, please contact Paul White.
