Going into Clearing
“I never considered going through Clearing until results day came around. On the day, I found out that I hadn’t got onto the course I originally wanted and was moved onto a different course. Knowing that Clearing could offer me other options, I did some research on what I needed to do next. I knew straight away that UWE Bristol was where I wanted to study.
Making the Clearing phone call
The whole Clearing process was easy. After collecting my results, I phoned UWE Bristol’s Clearing hotline hoping to get a place on the BSc(Hons) Biomedical Science course. After researching the course, I felt it offered me all that I wanted. It wasn’t just the course that drew me to UWE Bristol, but also that I had some friends who were starting the same course in September.
The call was simple. I just had to tell them the course I wanted to do and talk through the grades I received. They explained how to apply for the course in Clearing and answered all my questions about the university and accommodation.
I really appreciated that my course leader called me not long after to answer my questions and to go through the course details and the opportunities available.

My experience as a UWE Bristol student
My experience at UWE Bristol has been amazing and I’ve made the most of my time here. I’ve just finished my second year and I’m now looking forward to starting my third year. I’ve volunteered as a student rep, which gave me the opportunity to represent the students on my course.
My favourite part of the course is all the laboratory practicals we’ve had. This has taught me new skills, which will help me in the future.
There are so many great things about UWE Bristol, such as how the lecturers are always willing to help. I feel comfortable emailing them with my questions as I know they’ll respond as soon as they can. Also, I love the campus and it’s such a great community, where everyone is so friendly and helpful.
I also fit in a part-time job at Gregg’s alongside my studies, but there’s still plenty of time for my social life. There’s always so much going on. I love to go walking and go for a drink in the city centre. I recently went to the Students’ Union Summer Ball with my housemates, and it was a great experience.
When I graduate, I want to stay in Bristol and start my career in the pharmaceuticals industry. I know biomedical science will open many doors for me in the future and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.”
