by the Student Ventures Team
Employers are increasingly looking for students and graduates with unique and adaptable skill sets to join their organisations. It’s about identifying opportunities, creating ideas and putting them into practise.
Here at Student Ventures we run a range of events, workshops, mentoring and funding competitions throughout the year to help you build those skills or get your idea off the ground.
And from Monday 22 February to Friday 26 February you can get involved in one of our biggest events of the year, UWE Enterprise Festival.
Join us for a celebration of all things enterprising at UWE. Develop your enterprising skills, apply for funding, network with entrepreneurs and attend a host of workshops and events during a packed week of activity.
Here are just some of the events you can get involved in throughout the week:
In partnership with Santander, we will be holding our annual Dragons’ Den style pitching competition. This is an opportunity for up to ten of the best student ideas to pitch their project or business, with the chance of winning cash prizes of up to £5,000 for your business!
This competition will be launching for applications during Enterprise Festival.
The BYOB series is designed to help you to develop your own business, project or to hone your skills. This session covers the Business Model Canvas, a strategic management and entrepreneurial tool. It allows you to describe, design, challenge, invent, and pivot your business model.
This event aims to give enterprising students a vision of life beyond university. With a fantastic panel of BAME UWE alumni who have left university to go on and work for themselves, they will be offering first-hand experience and top tips. This discussion will also be exploring the realities of life after graduation and starting an enterprise as part of the BAME community. Both alumni and students attending will have the chance to ask questions and network with each other.
This event is great for all students who want to explore their creativity and potentially start an enterprise of their own.
This session will look at creating a business model creatives and start-ups. Taking you through a tried and tested tool, this session will allow you to examine where there are gaps in your plans and what your next steps could be.
