{"id":225,"date":"2024-06-13T12:18:23","date_gmt":"2024-06-13T11:18:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/transport-and-society\/?p=225"},"modified":"2024-08-01T18:17:17","modified_gmt":"2024-08-01T17:17:17","slug":"invitation-to-our-cts-symposium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/transport-and-society\/invitation-to-our-cts-symposium\/","title":{"rendered":"Invitation to our CTS symposium"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We would like the symposium to be an opportunity to share and engage with transport research on the topics of governance and equity; transport planning and placemaking; technological change; travel behaviour and the mobility experience.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Programme<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the welcome and symposium opening, we will hear a keynote by Councillor Ed Plowden, new Chair of Bristol City Council\u2019s Transport and Connectivity Committee, followed by two breakout sessions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Travel behaviour and the mobility experience<\/strong>, examining active travel as daily practice and potential<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Governance and technological change<\/strong>, considering a wide array of tools for better performing transport systems (drone deliveries, public transport automation, and more inclusive Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second part of the morning will be a plenary session presenting Triple Access Planning followed by a panel in which the panellists (to be announced next week) will imagine themselves as special advisers and brainstorm ways to brief the new Government\u2019s Secretary of State for Transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The symposium will break for lunch and you will have the option to participate in a NetWalk (the spaces are limited, make sure you select the option when registering).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the afternoon, three parallel workshops will offer to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Learn how to use systems thinking for decarbonising freight while considering uncertainty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Examine automated bus services from the policy and planning perspectives and provide input to help frame next steps on the research agenda. Or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Think about the decision-making processes that can deliver more walkable environments, and brainstorm policies\u2019 and tools\u2019 desirable evolution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We hope to see you on 18<sup> <\/sup>July at Frenchay!
