Do you know what you\u2019re vaccinated against?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ideally you should be fully vaccinated before starting university but it\u2019s not too late to get vaxxed. You can get all the vaccinations below at a GP in Bristol or at the University Health Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can easily check your vaccination status by checking your health record:

These are the key viruses you can easily be vaccinated against:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Meningitis<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
      <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Meningitis, sepsis and septicaemia (blood poisoning) are very serious, potentially life-threatening illnesses that can lead to life-changing disabilities, such as amputations, hearing loss and brain damage. Find out more<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      2. MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        The MMR vaccine gives long-term protection against measles, mumps and rubella. These 3 infections spread easily between people and can lead to serious problems including: meningitis; blindness; hearing loss. Find out more<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        3. Human papillomavirus (HPV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          HPV is the name of a very common group of viruses. HPV is spread by skin-to-skin contact and can increase the risk of genital warts and some types of cancer. A single dose of HPV vaccine is now recommended – it’s available to all those aged under 25 and takes less than five minutes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          4. Influenza (\u2018flu\u2019) and COVID-19<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            If you think you might be in a high clinical risk group, contact your GP to see if you need to have a\u00a0flu vaccine<\/a>\u00a0or a\u00a0first COVID-19 vaccine or booster<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Tuberculosis tests<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            If you are from any of these countries<\/a> and you will be in the UK for more than six months, you must take a tuberculosis (TB) test. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
