{"id":5111,"date":"2024-02-07T09:26:34","date_gmt":"2024-02-07T09:26:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/research-business-innovation\/?p=5111"},"modified":"2024-02-07T09:26:34","modified_gmt":"2024-02-07T09:26:34","slug":"uwe-bristol-academic-delivers-guest-lecture-at-satbayev-university-in-kazakhstan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/research-external-engagement\/uwe-bristol-academic-delivers-guest-lecture-at-satbayev-university-in-kazakhstan\/","title":{"rendered":"UWE Bristol academic delivers guest lecture at Satbayev University in Kazakhstan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/people.uwe.ac.uk\/Person\/TariqUmar\">Dr Tariq Umar<\/a>, Senior Lecturer in Construction Project Management, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwe.ac.uk\/about\/colleges-and-schools\/arts-technology-and-environment\/architecture-and-environment\">School of Architecture and Built Environment<\/a> at UWE Bristol visited <a href=\"https:\/\/satbayev.university\/en\">Satbayev University<\/a>, Kazakhstan, as part of their <a href=\"https:\/\/kazakhstan.britishcouncil.org\/\">British Council<\/a>-funded project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project aims to develop teaching and research co-operation between different disciplines including civil engineering, construction architecture, environment, computer science and green technology. The interaction with different faculties and staff demonstrates that there is a great potential for joint research projects and the current project team agreed to pursue funding opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Umar also delivered a guest lecture on the future of cities which was well attended by the academic staff and students. Almaty, where Satbayev University is located, is one of the major cities of Kazakhstan facing several environmental issues including the quality of air.
