He has written extensively on German Idealism and Critical Theory, and is an expert on the philosopher, Theodor Adorno. O\u2019Connor has also written on the subject of idleness in his 2018 book of the same name, which provided a comparative analysis of the philosophy of idleness. His other publications include three monographs, Adorno\u2019s Negative Dialectic (MIT Press, 2004), Adorno (Routledge, 2013), and Idleness: A Philosophical Essay (Princeton University Press, 2018).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Phil Tovey \u201cPhilosophy and Policy\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wednesday 29 November<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwe.ac.uk\/life\/campus-and-facilities\/frenchay-campus\">Frenchay campus<\/a>, 2B020<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2-4pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/profile\/Philip-Tovey\">Phil Tovey<\/a>, Head of Futures, Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, (Defra). Phil currently leads the Defra futures team in providing strategic foresight in support of the UK\u2019s environmental, food and rural systems through a combination of Global Catastrophic Risk analysis, futures narrative assessment, mapping non-linear Social Ecological System change and other speculative futures approaches. He works mainly on 19th and 20th century and is also the author of Heidegger and Authenticity: From Resoluteness to Releasement (Bloomsbury, 2013); Heidegger, History and the Holocaust (Bloomsbury, 2015); and Heidegger&#8217;s Life and Thought: A Tarnished Legacy (Rowman &amp; Littlefield, 2020).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nicholas Davey \u201cHermeneutics and the Question of Certainty\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wednesday 20 March<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecosia.org\/search?q=Arnolfini&amp;addon=chromegpo&amp;tt=4f71146b\">Arnolfini<\/a>, 5AF005a<br>4-6pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/discovery.dundee.ac.uk\/en\/persons\/nicholas-davey\">Nicholas Davey<\/a> is Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the University of Dundee. He is known for his expertise in aesthetics and hermeneutics and has also played a leading role in founding several research groups and institutes at the University of Dundee, which include Theoros, Hermeneutica Scotia, and the university&#8217;s Arts and Humanities Research Institute.
