{"id":9462,"date":"2022-07-22T10:39:00","date_gmt":"2022-07-22T09:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/?p=9462"},"modified":"2022-08-03T09:48:06","modified_gmt":"2022-08-03T08:48:06","slug":"year-10s-get-an-engineering-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/year-10s-get-an-engineering-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"Year 10s get an Engineering experience"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three local Year 10 pupils visited UWE Engineering in July, for a week of Engineering experiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting off with a tour of campus and of the different labs in Engineering, the three keen young engineers then spent preceding days working with various technicians, getting hands on to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>learn the basics of electronic and mechatronic engineering<\/li><li>designing and making a keyring using UWE machinery<\/li><li>think about redesigning their city in a digital world (Minecraft)<\/li><li>test out a new Lidar scanner for Architecture and the Built Environment<\/li><li>getting their first experiences in coding programming the humanoid robot &#8216;Pepper&#8217;<\/li><li>code music on &#8216;Manhattan&#8217; &#8211; the crowd-based composing software<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Thank you for putting together such an amazing week; I had a fantastic time and learnt so much about the different aspects of Engineering. I\u00a0 hope this Work Experience runs next year as I am certain many students in the year below me would absolutely love it as well.\u00a0<\/p><cite>Brooke, Year 10
