The children from 14 schools across England and Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/leadersaward.com\/\">Leaders Award<\/a>\u00a0is supported by UWE Bristol and asks children \u201cIf you were an engineer, what would you do?\u201d. This free competition asks students to find a problem, invent a solution, draw it, explain and send it in. Pupils are encouraged to both interview engineers and watch the online interviews. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"510\" height=\"155\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2018\/10\/DJwAPouWkAIspYz-510x155.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-246\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2018\/10\/DJwAPouWkAIspYz-510x155.jpg 510w, https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2018\/10\/DJwAPouWkAIspYz-510x155-300x91.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 510px) 85vw, 510px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rachel, who is taking part in UWE&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/tag\/women-like-me\/\">Women Like Me<\/a> project to support women and girls in engineering, spoke about civil engineering and transport planning. After the presentation, she said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cI thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it was a great opportunity to give an insight into the varied world of civil engineering and transport planning. The pupils asked very interesting and sometimes challenging questions.
