The team are part of UWE\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestudentsunion.co.uk\/soc\/WiSE\/\">Women in Science and Engineering student society<\/a>\u00a0and Katy is also a participant in our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/category\/women-like-me\/\">Women Like Me<\/a>\u00a0mentoring and outreach project supporting women and girls in engineering.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"fb-root\" class=\" fb_reset\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-625 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2018\/11\/RLBS-212x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"206\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2018\/11\/RLBS-212x300.jpg 212w, https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2018\/11\/RLBS.jpg 285w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 206px) 85vw, 206px\" \/><\/div>\n<div>The team picked the design of\u00a0<strong>Philippa Griffiths<\/strong>, a Year 7 student at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hughsexey.com\/\">Hugh Sexey CE Middle School<\/a>\u00a0in Somerset. Philippa designed the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/leadersaward.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Philippa-Griffiths-YR7-SOUTH-WEST-2018.pdf\">RLBS (Red Line Braking System)<\/a>\u00a0to display red lights to alert other drivers of the severity of the braking and levels of attention needed, with the aim of reducing fatalities on our roads.
