{"id":542,"date":"2018-11-17T10:23:43","date_gmt":"2018-11-17T10:23:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/?p=542"},"modified":"2018-11-17T10:23:43","modified_gmt":"2018-11-17T10:23:43","slug":"women-like-me-engineer-jessica-poole-mather-wins-wise-one-to-watch-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/women-like-me-engineer-jessica-poole-mather-wins-wise-one-to-watch-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Women Like Me engineer Jessica Poole Mather wins WISE One to Watch Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We were delighted to hear that our <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/women-like-me-launch-event-becoming-a-leader-in-engineering\/\">Women Like Me<\/a> engineer Jessica Poole Mather was announced as winner of the &#8216;One to Watch&#8217; Award at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisecampaign.org.uk\/what-we-do\/wise-events\/wise-awards\/wise-awards-2018-winners\/\">WISE Awards<\/a> on 15th November.<\/p>\n<p>Jessica, who is undertaking outreach activities with us as part of <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/women-like-me-launch-event-becoming-a-leader-in-engineering\/\">Women Like Me<\/a>, is an Engineering Graduate Trainee at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rolls-royce.com\/\">Rolls-Royce PLC<\/a>. She was chosen for the award alongside Alexandra Lawson, Operations Supervisor at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shell.co.uk\/\">Shell<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisecampaign.org.uk\/what-we-do\/wise-events\/wise-awards\/2018-wise-awards-finalists\/wise-one-to-watch-award-finalists\/\">award<\/a>, sponsored by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intel.co.uk\/content\/www\/uk\/en\/homepage.html\">Intel<\/a>,\u00a0looked <em>&#8220;to identify young women aged 25 and under on the date of the Awards, 15 November 2018, who are working to change the image of girls and women working in STEM. This Award is designed to identify and share stories of girls and young women who are passionate about STEM and good at what they do \u2013 not just when studying or at work but throughout day-to-day lives too.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>WISE reported that the judges could not come to a conclusion on \u201cone to watch\u201d as there were clearly \u201ctwo to watch\u201d that stood out as ultimate winners, and agreed that combining this dynamic duo with their unique individual strengths and passion would be a winning team for WISE and taking STEM initiatives to the next level as true ambassadors.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Jess from the Women Like Me team!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We were delighted to hear that our Women Like Me engineer Jessica Poole Mather was announced as winner of the &#8216;One to Watch&#8217; Award at the WISE Awards on 15th November.
