The Real Play Coalition<\/a> was formed in 2018 by IKEA<\/a>, The LEGO Foundation<\/a>, Unileve<\/a>r\u2019s Persil, OMO and Surf Excel, and National Geographic<\/a>. This November, they have introduced the Global Month of Play<\/a> to “help combat the erosion of play”<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The website provides a free newsletter<\/a> and\u00a0activity finder<\/a> and lots of play-based activities giving children the opportunity to grow and learn through play.<\/p>\n

\"\"November’s Global Month of Play will see a programme of activities aimed at families, schools and communities to excite and engage children in their everyday lives. The Real Play Coalition will reach over 3 million children in more than 100 countries, with activities taking place in across 26,000 classrooms, with the message that\u00a0“play is rocket fuel for children’s development”<\/em>.<\/p>\n

IKEA<\/strong>\u00a0are\u00a0inviting everyone to join extra playful activities in more than 400 IKEA stores around the world as part of their Let\u2019s Play for Change<\/a> campaign, with the message that play is vital for all of us, everywhere, every day. The\u00a0IKEA activities can be followed on #letsplayforchange<\/a> and #FablerBjorn<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Lego Foundation<\/strong>\u00a0and LEGO Group are celebrating UNICEF\u2019s Universal Children\u2019s Day<\/a>\u00a0(#worldchildrensday) on 20th<\/sup> November\u00a0through their Build the Change<\/a> events. Children in selected locations in Mexico, the UK, China, South Africa and Denmark have been invited to use LEGO\u00ae bricks to build their dream school, in which learning through play and creativity are part of everything they do. The LEGO Foundation will hand a selection of insights, ideas and learning from the project to world leaders at the 30th<\/sup> anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child 2019.<\/p>\n

Unilever\u2019s Persil, OMO and Surf Excel\u00a0<\/strong>are supporting Outdoor Classroom Day<\/a>, a global campaign led by NGO Project Dirt<\/a> to inspire and celebrate outdoor learning and play. Thousands of schools across the globe took their lessons outside and prioritised playtime on 1st<\/sup> November. Over 3 million children across 26,000 classrooms joined in 2018.\u00a0Parents and teachers can sign up at\u00a0www.outdoorclassroomday.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

National Geographic<\/strong> are producing a series of videos for the Real Play Coalition, titled Play Made Me This Way<\/a>. These will reveal, through memories and testimonies, the life-changing impact of play in their formative years on some inspiring people. Videos\u00a0can be watched on National Geographic and Real Play Coalition social media channels; find them using #PlayMadeMeThisWay. The Real Play Coalition<\/strong> website<\/a> launched on 1st<\/sup> November at the start of the Global Month of Play and will “form a platform to discuss just how critical play is in forming the well-rounded, creative, empathetic and lateral-thinking adults that tomorrow\u2019s society needs”<\/em>.<\/p>\n
