{"id":4429,"date":"2021-02-25T12:38:44","date_gmt":"2021-02-25T12:38:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/?p=4429"},"modified":"2021-02-25T12:38:47","modified_gmt":"2021-02-25T12:38:47","slug":"the-big-beam-in-for-british-science-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/the-big-beam-in-for-british-science-week\/","title":{"rendered":"The Big Beam In for British Science Week"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">DETI Inspire at UWE Bristol are running a series of engineering engagement events with local schools during British Science Week this year (5<sup>th<\/sup>-14<sup>th<\/sup> March) called <strong>The Big Beam In<\/strong> <strong>for British Science Week<\/strong> and they invite anyone currently studying or working in engineering to take part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-bright-blue-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>The Big Beam In aims to connect children throughout the South West with real-life engineers and showcase the diversity of engineering, its people, skills and future career opportunities. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">The sessions will take place virtually and full lesson plans and guidance are provided to all teachers and engineers taking part. These lessons are themed around DETI Inspire&#8217;s latest school resource <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/engineering-curiosity-a-new-resource-for-west-of-england-schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Engineering Curiosity<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; a set of top-trump style cards which have been created with engineers across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-4 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex
