{"id":3753,"date":"2021-01-29T12:36:55","date_gmt":"2021-01-29T12:36:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/?p=3753"},"modified":"2021-02-24T10:12:05","modified_gmt":"2021-02-24T10:12:05","slug":"connecting-local-students-and-engineers-with-im-an-engineer-get-me-out-of-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/connecting-local-students-and-engineers-with-im-an-engineer-get-me-out-of-here\/","title":{"rendered":"Connecting local students and engineers with I\u2019m an Engineer, Get me out of here!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/imanengineer.org.uk\/how-it-works-teachers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">I\u2019m an Engineer<\/a><\/em>\u00a0is an online STEM engagement and enrichment project that connects students with real engineers online.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">And this year, the DETI Inspire team from UWE Bristol have teamed up with I&#8217;m an Engineer to show students the positive impacts of digital engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-bright-blue-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Engineers from across the region are invited to take part in the Youth Engagement with Engineering and Sustainability Summit (YEESS!) to help school students see engineering\u2019s impact on sustainability and the future of our planet.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Together with DETI, I\u2019m an Engineer will run 3 activities for schools in the West of England as part of the DETI Inspire programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">In March and June 2021 , students can Ask engineers questions, Chat to them in live text-based Chats, and Vote for their favourite engineer to win \u00a3500 to put towards further outreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">In October 2021 , engineers who have taken part in March and June will be given the opportunity to discuss sustainability and engineering with students ahead of COP26 (UN Climate Change Conference) as part of the <strong>Youth Engagement with Engineering and Sustainability Summit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Register your interest now:<a href=\"http:\/\/Register your interest now: imanengineer.org.uk\/engineers\/yeess\/\"> <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/imanengineer.org.uk\/engineers\/yeess\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">imanengineer.org.uk\/engineers\/yeess\/<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">As part of the activity, you can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Help students understand the role engineering has to play in making the world more sustainable<\/li><li>Engage school students in the West of England with your work<\/li><li>Help students see engineering as something \u2018for them\u2019<\/li><li>Improve your communication skills<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">I\u2019m an Engineer is accessible and flexible to fit around your schedule &#8211; the Zones take place over 4 weeks, and you can choose to participate in live Chats at a time that suits you.
