{"id":2011,"date":"2020-07-27T08:30:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-27T07:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/?p=2011"},"modified":"2020-07-24T14:13:40","modified_gmt":"2020-07-24T13:13:40","slug":"launch-of-west-of-england-digital-engineering-technology-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/launch-of-west-of-england-digital-engineering-technology-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"Launch of West of England Digital Engineering Technology initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UWE Bristol is proud to announce the official launch of the region&#8217;s new <a href=\"http:\/\/deti.uk\">Digital Engineering Technology &amp; Innovation (DETI<\/a>) initiative!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DETI is a research, innovation and skills initiative created to develop and accelerate digital engineering across multiple industry sectors, to ultimately benefit future generations of engineers and engineering products, and to help tackle global challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UWE&#8217;s Engineering, Design and Mathematics department will play a central role in DETI, leading the Skills development branch of the centre. EDM will work with other DETI partners to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Inspire<\/strong> the next generation of diverse engineers<\/li><li><strong>Transform<\/strong> the further and higher education landscape<\/li><li><strong>Innovate<\/strong> lifelong learning of specialised digital engineering skills<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Lisa Brodie, Head of UWE Bristol\u2019s Department of Engineering Design and Mathematics (EDM), who led UWE\u2019s bid, said: \u201cThis is a vitally important investment for our region and we are pleased to be leading on the skills and workforce development element of the centre\u2019s work.
