{"id":1510,"date":"2019-10-16T10:05:43","date_gmt":"2019-10-16T09:05:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/?p=1510"},"modified":"2019-10-15T16:05:03","modified_gmt":"2019-10-15T15:05:03","slug":"uwe-introduce-teenagers-to-robots-and-programming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/uwe-introduce-teenagers-to-robots-and-programming\/","title":{"rendered":"UWE introduce teenagers to robots and programming"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Senior Research fellow from the Bristol Robotics Laboratory, Severin Lemaignan,\u00a0took a team of students and plenty of robots to Bristol&#8217;s Teen Tech Fair earlier this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.teentech.com\/\">Teen Tech <\/a>Festivals pop up across the UK to inspire the innovators of tomorrow -teenagers! On Thursday 10th October, local businesses turned up to Bristol&#8217;s Pavilion\u00a0to help\u00a0young people understand the opportunities in the science, technology and engineering industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lemaignan was enthusiastic about how his robotic programming activity was received. &#8220;About 60 children came and visited us. They used language to explain concepts to the pupils in an accessible way.  Not all of mine are regular users of technical vocabulary but I felt that they understood all that they needed to and learnt loads!  They have come away inspired and really excited about entering the TeenTech Awards.
