The competition aims to develop enterprising and innovative young engineers and encourage more young people to take up a career in engineering. The format of the event is such that it provides an ideal opportunity for the students to test, demonstrate and improve their capabilities to deliver a complex and integrated product in the demanding environment of a motorsport competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UWE\nis in its sixth year of entering the competition, and for 2019 took on the dual\nchallenge of the home competition at Silverstone as well as Formula student Netherland\nat the TT track in Assen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through four days of inclement\nweather, the team produced a strong display in Assen. Completing all seven\nelements of the competition for the first time. Resulting in a sixth place\noverall finish out of 28 combustion teams on the Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/08\/Blog-Picture.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1407\" width=\"686\" height=\"353\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/08\/Blog-Picture.jpg 807w, https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/08\/Blog-Picture-300x155.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/08\/Blog-Picture-768x396.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main event for the team is\nalways the home event at Silverstone, where they entered with confidence their\nengineering was good and well tested in the Netherlands. The team surpassed\ntheir previous efforts achieving their best ever statics and dynamics points\nhaul.
