{"id":1299,"date":"2019-05-22T10:04:52","date_gmt":"2019-05-22T09:04:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/?p=1299"},"modified":"2019-05-22T22:05:55","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T21:05:55","slug":"edm-staff-attend-wise-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/edm-staff-attend-wise-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"EDM staff attend WISE conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 14<sup>th<\/sup> May,  Lecturer in Engineering Management <a href=\"https:\/\/people.uwe.ac.uk\/Person\/UdonnaOkeke\">Dr Udonna Okeke<\/a> and Research Fellow and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/?s=women+like+me\">Women Like Me<\/a> coordinator <a href=\"https:\/\/people.uwe.ac.uk\/Person\/Laura5Hobbs\">Dr Laura Hobbs <\/a>attended the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisecampaign.org.uk\">WISE<\/a> (Women in Science and Engineering) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisecampaign.org.uk\/previous-conferences\/wise-conference-2019\/\">conference<\/a> in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hosted at<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theiet.org\/\"> the IET<\/a>, the 2019 conference offered delegates a range of keynote speakers, plenary and panel sessions and breakout workshops. Highlights included insights into how women job hunt, the plasticity of our brains and the complexity of ethics in robotics and AI. Sessions can now be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisecampaign.org.uk\/previous-conferences\/wise-conference-2019\/2019-presentations\/\">viewed online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Udonna was able to make some useful connections for his project <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/bame-girls-in-engineering-opportunity-to-encourage-diversity-in-engineering\/\">BAME Girls in Engineering<\/a>, while Laura was able to discuss the new platform to support girls in STEM, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/wise-and-women-like-mes-sarah-behenna-on-the-my-skills-my-life-launch\/\">My Skills My Life<\/a>, with our <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/engineering\/?s=women+like+me\">Women Like Me<\/a> partners from WISE.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 14th May, Lecturer in Engineering Management Dr Udonna Okeke and Research Fellow and Women Like Me coordinator Dr Laura Hobbs attended the WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) conference in London.
