{"id":330,"date":"2017-01-27T11:33:31","date_gmt":"2017-01-27T11:33:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bristolbusinessschoolblog.com\/?p=330"},"modified":"2017-01-27T11:33:31","modified_gmt":"2017-01-27T11:33:31","slug":"the-faculty-of-business-and-law-launch-new-research-centres-and-groups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/bristol-business-school\/the-faculty-of-business-and-law-launch-new-research-centres-and-groups\/","title":{"rendered":"The Faculty of Business and Law launch new Research Centres and Groups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:justify\">A \u2018soft launch\u2019 of the new research centres and groups was held on 25<sup>th<\/sup> January 2017 at the Executive Conference Centre. \u00a0The groundbreaking research undertaken at UWE Bristol aims to\u00a0make its mark on business, industry and the wider community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">There are three new research centres and five research groups:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align:justify\">\n<li>CALR- Centre for Applied Legal Research<\/li>\n<li>BCEF \u2013 Bristol Centre for Economics and Finance<\/li>\n<li>BLCC \u2013 Bristol Leadership and Change Centre<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">The groups are:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align:justify\">\n<li>IOMS &#8211; Innovation, Operations Management and Supply<\/li>\n<li>HRM \u2013 Human Resource Management<\/li>\n<li>AMG \u2013 Applied Marketing Group<\/li>\n<li>EE \u2013 Enterprise and Entrepreneurship<\/li>\n<li>BBEC \u2013 Bristol Business Engagement Centre<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Donna Whitehead Pro Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean in her introductory remarks stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2018<em>I\u2019m really excited about the future of our research. What we are launching today represents our ambitious and creative values.<\/em> <em>We have created new research centres and groups that really reflect our strengths; where we have significant resource, capacity, capability and ambition\u2019<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><em>\u00a0<\/em>Presentations were given on each of the research centres and the research groups, outlining the aims of each centre or group.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">All the presentations stressed the applied nature of their research and links with their stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">The soft launch was held prior to Lord\u00a0Karan Bilimoria CBE, Chairman of Cobra Beer&#8217;s Bristol Distinguish Address.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">In his concluding remarks Lord Bilimoria congratulated the centres and groups and focused on the benefits of collaborative research that impacts on both policy change and decision -making.
