MSc FinTech is a course that equips students to address the pervasive impact of disruptive financial technologies. This programme is jointly run by Bristol Business School and The Department for Computer Science and Creative Technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim of the guest lecture series was to give the students real insight into what it takes to start, run and grow a FinTech. From day one we wanted to ensure that understanding around the importance of compliance, risk and legal were understood. If our students go on to start their own ventures in the future, better that they understand these requirements from day one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The series gave students an insight into the different types of technology and applications, helping them to imagine and innovate. This included Open Banking, AI, Blockchain, NFTs, Metaverse, Payments, Automated Investing and Cyber to name a few.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also regularly share news articles from the world of FinTech and discuss the impact they might have on the future of finance.&nbsp;Four lucky students attended <a href=\"https:\/\/eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.fintechtalents.com%2F&amp;data=04%7C01%7CRose.Adderley%40uwe.ac.uk%7C9ca5e35daeb94608d14e08d9f203dc01%7C07ef1208413c4b5e9cdd64ef305754f0%7C0%7C0%7C637806920645465958%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&amp;sdata=hQXWqQ6S4iE2A1NNWLyrCgHeZoPIp14N1YMvdE2EKmc%3D&amp;reserved=0\">FinTech Talents event<\/a> in London where they heard from headline speakers from across the world of FinTech and Financial Services.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Below is a summary of each of the guest speakers that came to campus to present to the students and what they discussed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/glenn-smith-uk\/\"><strong>Glenn Smith<\/strong><\/a><strong> &#8211; Founder and CEO of <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roqqett.com\/\"><strong>Roqqett<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Fintech is not new: Financial Technology over the last century<\/li><li>Technology in the FX markets<\/li><li>When the rules change: the opportunities when disruption occurs from new tech or new regulation<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ali-kazmi-33683473\/\"><strong>Ali Kazmi<\/strong><\/a><strong> \u2013 Founder of <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalequity.co.uk\"><strong>Ethical Equity<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Steps to launch and funding<\/li><li>Get your MVP. It is much more than that and includes all the supporting functions &#8211; marketing, compliance, legal, design, project management etc.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/julianwells\/\"><strong>Julian Wells<\/strong><\/a><strong> &#8211; Director at <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitecapconsulting.co.uk\/team-member\/julian-wells\/\"><strong>Whitecap Consulting<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Julian is behind FinTech North and FinTech West, which make up part of the National FinTech Network.
