{"id":1941,"date":"2020-10-19T12:08:10","date_gmt":"2020-10-19T11:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/bristol-business-school\/?p=1941"},"modified":"2020-10-19T12:08:13","modified_gmt":"2020-10-19T11:08:13","slug":"case-study-thet-naing-oo-bahons-business-management-top-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uwe.ac.uk\/bristol-business-school\/case-study-thet-naing-oo-bahons-business-management-top-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Case study: Thet Naing Oo, BA(Hons) Business Management (top-up)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I always&nbsp;wanted to&nbsp;study in the UK, and with the support of an agent&nbsp;here in Myanmar and from speaking to other students I made the decision to join UWE Bristol.&nbsp;I chose the&nbsp;Business Management&nbsp;top-up&nbsp;degree,&nbsp;as I had already completed two years in a different discipline in the UK, but after some reflection chose to focus on building my knowledge and skills in the area of Business.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>From virtual to reality&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I really enjoyed the practical element of the course, in particular the airline simulation where we had to work in small groups and run a business. It was brilliant, and I felt like I was running a real\u00a0firm. It was a great experience that allowed me to look into the different operational aspects such as marketing\u00a0and\u00a0finance\u00a0(profit, loss etc). Each week we would come together and reflect on how we could improve. There was friendly competition\u00a0amongst the different groups in the class which\u00a0encouraged us to make\u00a0our\u00a0business the most successful.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>\u201cThe practical nature of the top-up gave me the confidence to set up my own business.\u00a0And\u00a0I\u2019m currently running an Education Consultancy \u2013 supporting students from Myanmar to come and study in the UK\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The future is bright&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I had always thought about setting-up my own business, and on&nbsp;my&nbsp;return to&nbsp;Myanmar&nbsp;I took the time to think through what I loved and what I know and started to develop some business ideas.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I created&nbsp;Unigo Education Consultancy&nbsp;as&nbsp;a way to help the younger generation realise their potential and strive to study a degree overseas and greatly&nbsp;increase&nbsp;their career prospects.
