Welcome to Open Access Week 2011!

21Oct2011

Monday 24 to Friday 28 October is Open Access Week - a global event, now in its fifth year. The event aims to promote open access to the research community, and inspire wider participation, by showing how free, immediate online access to scholarly research has the power to transform the way research is conducted.

In order to celebrate Open Access Week, UWE will be holding a lunchtime event (12-2pm), with refreshments, on open access on Wed 26 Oct. We will also be running drop-in sessions at all campuses, and running a competition: whoever uploads the most full text items during the week will win a bottle of wine.

In addition to all of this, The Research Repository blog will feature one interview each day with a UWE academic who speaks about open access, the repository and its benefits.

Open Access week will take place on the 24th to the 30th of October 2011. We will be posting details of OA week activities, the main focus of which will be a lunchtime event on Wed 26 Oct. There will also be information on drop-in sessions we are running at all campuses, and details on a competition for whoever uploads the most full text items during the week. During Open Access Week itself, this blog will feature one interview per day with a UWE academic who advocates the repository and its benefits.
