A new website for UWE

draft UWE homepage designAfter 2 years of work developing an information architecture, working on new designs and page types, and developing content, the first phase of the new UWE website is set for release in May 2011.

The new site will see a big change to the current web visual identity and will better support the UWE brand development that has taken place over the last couple of years.

A lot of work has gone into audience experience and user needs and a new navigation system will be the biggest improvement users will benefit from.

The site is underpinned by the University’s content management system which has been further developed to support the information architecture requirements. This includes better integration of social media content, course content, news and events and films and galleries to create a more engaging user experience.

The roll out of the new look website will be a phased approach with most of the main site structure being available in May and more content being brought into the new design as the year progresses.

We will be monitoring feedback and reviewing the user experience from go-live, but we expect the site launch to be a major leap forward in the ongoing development of the University’s web presence.
