Professional development

We’re planning a series of summer workshops on various aspects of marketing and communications for UWE staff.  Suggested sessions are: social media, writing effective copy, using the UWE brand, planning for an event and improving the effectiveness of your web pages. Let us know if you have any ideas for other areas you’d like covered.

We’d also like to know if there any sessions you would be interested in helping us run.

The plan is to run these hour long sessions over the next couple of months so keep an eye on our Blog and get ready to sign up.

Cake for Life

On Saturday 12 June, my friend and colleague Vicky and I are running as a team in the Race for Life – a 5K women’s event for Cancer Research UK.

It was timely that last week (1-7 June) was National Volunteers’ Week and, thanks to Anna in UWE’s volunteering department, we were inspired to do some fundraising in the office.

Last Thursday (coined Fundraising Thursday) the office became less about meetings and more about eating(s), as we flooded the office sideboard with chocolate muffins, lemon drizzle cakes, fondant cupcakes and Victoria sponges for a Race for Life cake sale.

Thank you to our friends in Marketing and Communications, Student Services and everyone else who popped in and took part. We raised over £63 for Cancer Research, which moved us much closer to our £300 target.

Now all that’s left to do is get our legwarmers ready, have a good stretch and run like the wind! To follow our progress and see if we hit our target, visit the Team Natto and Pratto sponsorship page.

Farewell Jodi... for now!

Posted by Emma O'Connell | 1 comment

Today is Jodi's last day before she goes on maternity leave.  As Jodi is sorry to be leaving us at such an interesting stage of the undergraduate campaign we made her a special social media tribute to thank her for all her work and remind her how much we will miss her!

Watch this space for news of the new arrival!

We are also pleased to say that Barbara Lung has been appointed to cover Jodi's maternity leave - she will be starting this role on 22 June.
