We are pleased to report that the MSc in Information Management has been accredited by the Chartered Institute for Library and Information Professionals until 2019. This follows the submission of a comprehensive portfolio application, a curriculum review and a site visit by a CILIP-accredited assessor in June 2014.

In her final report, the assessor thanked the participating staff for “frank and open discussions that took place during the visit with (the) team on a wide range of issues. From these discussions there emerged forward thinking staff sharing ideas and a commitment to the programme and the students, contributing to employability and engaging with the wider community”

The assessor found the MSc to be “a stimulating programme, that opens discussion, and students are learning from each other’s work based experience”. Feedback from current students included the observation that “the programme had exceeded their expectations; it had been immediately beneficial and very relevant to current workplace issues.”

The accreditation process was enormously helpful for us in testing our course content against CILIP’s Professional Knowledge and Skills Base (PKSB) and highlighting those areas we are doing well, in addition to those which can be further strengthened.

We are looking forward to further developing our relationship with the accrediting body and to introducing new students to CILIP’s professional networking and support services.
