New Wildlife Filmmaking course in partnership with the BBC

Posted by Charlotte Hopes | 1 comment
UWE have joined up with the BBC's world-renowned Natural History Unit (NHU), based in Bristol, to offer an exciting new MA course in Wildlife Filmmaking starting in September 2012. It has been designed using the expertise of some of the NHU's most successful producers whose credits include 'Africa', 'Frozen Planet' and 'The Natural World'.

The course offers a unique opportunity for students to learn from the best in the business, with teaching delivered by UWE Filmmaking staff and NHU producers.  It will also draw on the talent in Bristol's successful independent production companies who do business with the major international players including Discovery and Animal Planet.

You can find out more on our website or tune in to BBC Points West this evening at 6.30pm to watch James Honeyborne, from the NHU, talk about this fantastic new course.

Diptych: a collaboration

Posted by Alison Pack | 1 comment
The next exhibition in the F Block Gallery at Bower Ashton is an intriguing proposition and not to be missed!

Two artists, one from UWE and one from the Spike Print Studio (SPS), chose a theme. Then ten artists from UWE were paired, randomly, with ten artists from the SPS and tasked with collaborating to produce ten diptychs around the chosen theme. Each piece has evolved from the relationship developed between the pair of artists, each bringing their own creative practice and approach to the collaboration. None of the pairs knew what the others were producing.

You can see the results in the F Block Gallery from today (3 April) until Monday 16 April. There's a private view on Thursday 5 April between 17.00 and 19.00, to which UWE and Spike staff and students are invited.
