A mass public art event is coming to Bristol next summer, as part of Bristol Zoo Gardens' 175th Anniversary, and YOU have the chance to get involved by submitting a design.
Wow! Gorillas is a celebration of arts, culture and the environment brought to you by Bristol Zoo Gardens who have collaborated with Wild in Art - the team who brought Go Superlambanana and Go Penguins to Liverpool.
From early July – for ten weeks – a group of gorillas, evocative of fun, creativity and self expression – will form a trail around the cultural and retail quarters, creating a ‘stampede’ to act as the visual centerpiece to highlight Bristol’s extraordinary cultural offer. Wow! Gorillas will also raise significant funds to support gorilla conservation projects and a local Bristol community charity.
Design proposals can be in any art form - from traditional to new media, from sound and video installations to poetry and photography. As well as great publicity there's an honorarium of £800 for commissioned artists. The deadline for submissions is Friday 28 January 2011.

You are invited to a very unusual art exhibition in Bristol, which several UWE students and recent graduates have helped to put together. Antlers is a gallery that is nomadic by design, producing temporary exhibitions moving through different spaces across the city. Its first pop-up exhibition Grotesques brings together new work by twelve artists who’ve responded to the title in a variety of ways, revealing elements of the fantastic, ludicrous and bizarre, intertwining animal and human forms.
The launch is on Thursday 2 December between 5-8pm at 3 Whiteladies Gate, BS8 2PH, where you can drink gin and listen to Nordic music to help get you in the right spirit!
